Dog Days of Summer.. Ok Cats too!

Taz sleeping in my tomato plant. If shes not killing it - The sun is!
I believe its been over a month of 100+ degree weather, and while normally Id be living it up but since this is a dry season ( no pool)... Im actually looking forward to fall- this must be a first!
My two out door dogs (cayote/dillo chasers) have been putting up the good fight. They are both black and Jaz has really thick fur. It feels like a full time job moving them around to the shade as the sun rises and lowers. Refilling the water buckets too! Jax, my big baby gets mad and will knock it over with his paw just to get us back over to him - it works often but as of late I feel bad that hes in the heat and im back over there taking care of my four legged child.

Tips for out door animals:
  • Provide adequte shade
  • Provide plenty of fresh, cool water
  • Give ice cubes to lick!!!
  • wet a bandana and tie it to their kneck- my dogs would tare it off each other and rip it to shreads!
  • Take them to a lake or a river to cook their paws ( baby pools work just as well)
  • Give cats wet food for hydration!
If you have any tips Id love to know them!

Mister fan on a cold concrete porch would help. Or misters in general (like the ones we have for the kids). ;.)
